When she was just four years old, her parents struggled with drug addiction and left her in the care of her grandmother.
While her grandmother had high expectations regarding image and success, Amber felt the weight of these standards heavily.
By the age of 11, her grandmother decided to stop supporting her, leading Amber to experience a series of group homes and foster care situations, many of which were abusive and controlling.
At 17, feeling abandoned and unwanted, Amber became homeless.
Although she initially turned to drinking on weekends, her life took a darker turn as she faced trauma and sexual assault.
In her quest for acceptance and stability, she became a “chameleon,” adapting to the needs of those around her to secure a place to stay.
The Turning Point

Amber’s life continued to spiral as she entered into relationships that were fraught with chaos.
Finally finding, someone, whom she thought would be, “The One” she married and after 15 years of marriage, he decided to leave.
She found herself devastated when he left her.
At 34, feeling lost and broken, Amber turned to drugs, believing they would fill the void in her life and numb her pain.
It wasn’t until she was 37, after her fifth arrest, that Amber realized she needed to change.
She sought help and entered treatment at Annie’s House, a women’s recovery center.
Initially skeptical, Amber gradually found strength in the program, learning to set boundaries and prioritize her well-being.
